Short Tail Snake

Breeding:
Lays eggs, Habits unknown.

Habitat:
Dry, high pineland and upland hammocks; to 100’.

Range:
West of St. Johns River, Florida.
A rarely observed burrowing snake. A constrictor, it can subdue and eat small snakes and lizards. When annoyed, it vibrates its tail, hisses and strikes.
