Northern Yellow Bat

Breeding:
Mates in fall; fertilization delayed until spring. Letters of 2-4 young born late May-June.
Habitat:
Semi-forested or forested areas. By day, often roosts in clumps of Spainish moss in area of longleaf pine and turkey oak; in Rio Grande Valley, roosts it palm trees.
Range:
Southeastern U.S., primarily from s and e Texas to coastal North Carolina.
This tree-loving species congregates to feed about 15 to 20 feet (4.5-6m) above the ground. Females form loose colonies during the breeding season, otherwise, this species is a solitary rooster.
